Available with four engines, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado has greater power than the 2024 Toyota Tundra, which offers three engines. The light-duty Chevy pickup truck tows and hauls more than the Toyota competitor. You’ll get more overall utility from the Chevy model’s clever Multi-Flex Tailgate and spacious bed with more than 89 cubic feet.

Performance Capabilities

Chevrolet equips the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the TurboMax engine block, which cranks out 430 pound-feet of torque when revolving at 3,000 RPM. A dual-volute turbocharger controls combustion in this all-new engine. Having a more traditional twin-turbocharged configuration, the 2024 Toyota Tundra’s standard i-FORCE engine spits out 406 lb-ft of torque. You can equip the Chevy pickup truck with a naturally aspirated, eight-cylinder engine that displaces 5.7 L. Hailing from the proven EcoTec3 series, the V-8 engine kicks out 355 hp and 383 lb-ft. Whipping out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, the 6.2-L engine also claims a V-8 design with the EcoTec3 logo. By contrast, the Tundra’s upgraded i-FORCE engine only delivers 389 hp. Nevertheless, this Toyota pickup truck extracts 479 lb-ft from the improved 3.4-L engine. Recently revamped for better performance, GM’s Duramax engine now twists out an incredible 495 lb-ft. This improved diesel engine lets you tow 13,300 gross pounds in compliance with SAE J2807 regulations. In stark contrast, the Tundra’s towing capacity is capped at exactly 12,000 pounds. This large Toyota truck can’t haul more than 1,940 lb. The Chevy model boasts a payload rating of up to 2,260 lb. Both light-duty trucks offer 10-speed automatic transmission system-specific modes for towing or hauling. An eight-speed gearbox is available on select Chevy Silverado 1500 trims.

With six ways to adjust the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500’s Multi-Flex Tailgate, you’ll save precious effort, time, and other resources for handling cargo. This full-size truck includes 12 tie-down hooks that haul your toys and other equipment with maximum stability. Depending on the configuration, the Chevy truck boasts more than 89 cubic feet of cargo on the tough bed. You should add the signature Chevytec spray-on bedliner to minimize damage to the bed in the long term. Working at night with LED cargo lights will be easy for this light-duty model from GM. You will get less exterior utility on the 2024 Tundra, which has a more traditional tailgate with limited ranges of motion.

GM now offers a 13.4-inch infotainment display for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. Toyota recently developed a 14.0-inch multimedia monitor for the 2024 Tundra. However, this model can’t match the eight exterior cameras installed on the Chevy truck. You could toggle through 14 distinct camera views on the Silverado 1500’s large touch screen. A 12.3-inch Driver Information Center is also available in the vehicle’s instrument cluster. Similarly, the Toyota truck offers a digital driver display of the same size. However, only some rivals in the segment can match the Silverado 1500’s Trailering App and Hitch Guidance.
